Hospital trust recognises staff achievement and commitment

6 December 2002

At a special event the West Suffolk Hospitals NHS Trust recognised the dedication and commitment of 66 members of staff with a combined long service of over 1,500 years in the NHS. They were joined by staff from across the Trust who had been nominated by colleagues for working above and beyond the call of duty.

Chief Executive of the Trust, John Parkes invited those present to receive a special certificate from the Chairman, Veronica Worrall in recognition of their exceptional contribution to the Trust and patient care.

Veronica Worrall said: “I continue to be amazed when people manage not only to do a busy and demanding job and do it well, but find the time and commitment to concentrate on improving the way they work and the treatment which patients receive.

“This special event gives me an opportunity on behalf of the Trust Board to thank all staff for their individual contribution towards our goal of providing excellent patient care in everything we do.”

Staff are asked to nominate colleagues for their special contribution to:

·         improving patient care

·         patient and public involvement in developing services

·         improving relations with colleagues

·         improving the hospital environment

·         academic achievement

·         improving partnership working

·         improving ways of working

·         innovation

All those nominated along with long service staff are included in a special issue of the staff magazine called ‘Blow Your Trumpet’. Thirty two members of staff achieved 20 years service, 28 staff achieved 25 years service and six received certificates for 32 years service and a further 121 staff were named in ‘Blow Your Own Trumpet’.
