Bishop of East Anglia visits West Suffolk Hospital

Time:              1pm

Date:              Thursday 4th September

Venue:            The Chapel of the Good Samaritan, West Suffolk Hospital

The new Roman Catholic Bishop of East Anglia, the Rt. Rev. Michael Evans, is visiting the West Suffolk Hospital in Bury St Edmunds on 4th September.

The Bishop will meet with Trust Chairman Veronica Worrall and Hospital Chaplain the Reverend David Crawley. He will visit the Special Care Baby Unit and lead Songs of Praise in the Wedgwood Day Hospital.

“We will also be saying goodbye to one of our volunteers, Ray Stanley, who has been with us for over six years and is now retiring,” said Reverend Crawley.  “We are always pleased to welcome new people and saddened when old friends leave us. But old friends are not forgotten, they remain in our thoughts and prayers.”

To recognise the commitment and achievement of past members of the Chaplaincy Department a new group called the Friends of the Good Samaritan has been formed.  On this occasion, in remembrance of two former colleagues and in thanksgiving for Ray Stanley’s work, the Bishop will present three framed copies of the Chapel’s stained glass window.  The ceremony will take place in the Chapel at 1pm, and media are invited to attend.
