JOB SHOP - A GREAT WAY TO FIND OUT ABOUT WORKING FOR THE NHS IN WEST SUFFOLK

17 September 2004

NHS staff will be on hand at a national job shop on September 23 to talk about healthcare jobs and careers available in West Suffolk.

Personnel and clinical staff from West Suffolk Hospitals NHS Trust and Suffolk West Primary Care Trust will be offering careers advice if you are:

  • thinking of training for a profession

  • want to discuss current job opportunities

  •  thinking of a change in career

  • considering returning to practice after a break in an NHS career

NHS Jobs Shops started in the year 2000 as part of an NHS Careers National Job Shops campaign. They are a great opportunity to find out about the many different careers in the NHS - from medicine and nursing to porter and ward clerk. Uniquely, Job Shops are hosted by NHS staff who can offer help and advice on choosing a NHS career.

The Job Shop will take place in the front entrance of West Suffolk Hospital from 10am to 3pm.

Jan Bloomfield, Director of Personnel and Communications, said: "There has never been a better time to join todayıs NHS. It offers flexible working, family friendly hours, improved access to childcare, free returners courses and financial support during training.

"There is professional career development and mentorship schemes, better pensions and benefits and improving diversity amongst the workforce.

"Whatever your age or skills, qualifications or experience we would encourage you to visit our Job Shops and meet and talk to NHS staff who will give you a chance to find out the many rewards to be gained from working for the NHS."

West Suffolk Hospitals NHS Trust is joining the national e-recruitment website. All vacancies will be posted online at: www.nhs.uk/jobs from September 27.
