New Director of Operations Appointed

West Suffolk Hospitals NHS Trust has appointed Gwen Nuttall as its new Director of Operations.

Gwen, who was born in Bury in Lancashire, is no stranger to Bury St Edmunds. Her first job after leaving university was as an administration assistant at St Edmundsbury Borough Council.

She joins the Trust from the Barts and The London NHS Trust based in London¹s East End where she was General Manager for Surgery and Anaesthesia for three and a half years. Prior to that she the worked at Chelsea and Westminster Healthcare NHS Trust for nine years, more recently as the General Manager for Surgery.

As Director of Operations Gwen will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the Trust¹s hospitals. Some 2,000 staff, 91 per cent of the Trust¹s workforce, come under the operations directorate.

Gwen said: "I have very fond memories of Bury St Edmunds and I am delighted to be joining West Suffolk Hospitals NHS Trust which already has an excellent reputation for good service and quality health care. I hope to be able to build upon that reputation and work closely alongside our colleagues in primary care to further develop services."

Chief Executive of the Trust, Chris Bown added: "We are delighted to appoint Gwen. She has considerable experience in leading clinical teams and I¹m sure will make a very big difference in the day-to-day running of our hospitals."
