New Utraclean Theatre for Hospital 13 October 2003 A new ultraclean operating theatre has opened today (Monday 13 October) at the West Suffolk Hospital in Bury St Edmunds. Diabetic eye screening service saves people’s eyesight 26 September 2003 In a report to mark the first twelve months of the service, Richard Dewhirst, head of the service, said that 19 people were found to have ‘proliferative diabetic retinopathy’, which can result in blindness if left untreated. Hospital’s annual service of thanksgiving for all involved in health care 25 September 2003 A special service of thanksgiving is being held in the Chapel at the West Suffolk Hospital in Bury St Edmunds. The service will start at 7.30pm on Wednesday 8th October and all are welcome to attend. Name change for Nursing Assistants at West Suffolk Hospital 13 June, 2003 West Suffolk Hospitals NHS Trust has renamed Health Care Support Workers as Nursing Assistants after consulting with staff. New blood machine donated to West Suffolk Hospital 11 June 2003 A new blood re-infusion machine, called a cell-separator, has been donated to the West Suffolk Hospital in Bury St Edmunds. The machine works by sucking up the patient’s blood, cleaning it, and then returning it to the patient.
