Hospital holds special service of remembranceApril 18, 2002 A special service of Remembering and Sharing for all who have lost precious babies and children has been organised by the West Suffolk Hospitals NHS Trust. The service will take place on Sunday 12 May at 3.00pm in the Chapel at the West Suffolk Hospital, Bury St Edmunds. It has been organised by the Reverend David Crawley, Head of Chaplaincy Services, with the help and support of a multi-disciplinary working group. This is the fourth year running that a service had been held and in previous years it was very well attended. The feedback we have received from parents in previous years has told us that people appreciate and value this annual event, said the Revd. Crawley. Although it is always a very sad occasion, those present can draw enormous strength and support from each other, making the day an important and worthwhile one. Parents who have lost a child, at whatever age, and this can include miscarriage, stillbirth or termination are welcome to come along to the service, he said. With the parents permission the child s name is read out during the informal service and the parents and family are able to write in a Book of Remembrance. Light refreshments will be served afterwards when there will be an opportunity to talk with members of staff and other parents. A creche is available. Anyone wanting further information can contact the Revd Crawley on 01284 713486.
