Local students take their pick from over 20 different careers at the West Suffolk HospitalCelebrating NHS Week28 June 2002 Media Invitation Fourteen students from King Edward V1 High School in Bury St Edmunds have been invited to choose from over 20 different careers in the West Suffolk Hospital and spend time finding out more about the one that interests them. The day starts with a tour of the hospital before the students go off to various parts of the hospital to shadow a healthcare professional. Areas chosen include; radiography, the children’s ward, day surgery unit, accident and emergency, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, the emergency assessment unit, pathology, dietetics, speech and language therapy and social work. All the students will take part in resuscitation training from 11.45am until 12.45. “This is a great opportunity for students to get a taste of what life is like in the hospital and to gain first hand experience of careers in the NHS,” said Jan Bloomfield, Director of Personnel. “We work for the largest and one of the most important organisations in the country and few professions can offer the level of variety and job satisfaction that working in healthcare provides.” To highlight the benefits of working for the NHS and to encourage local people to think about a career at the West Suffolk Hospital the trust is once again running a recruitment stall at Bury St Edmunds market on Wednesday 10 July 2002.
