Nursery children try out the ‘dreaded’ dentist’s chairJune 18th 2002 Suffolk West PCT press release Media invitation Date: Wednesday 19 June Children from local nurseries have been invited to have fun and learn about the importance of looking after their teeth. A miniature dentist’s chair, equipped with lights, will help them to re-enact a visit to the dentist. Oral Health Educators Jacqui Finbow and Claire Davies organise this very popular event and this year they are assisted by year 10 childcare students from King Edwards Upper School. Games, role play and a dental exhibition will be used to teach the youngsters how to keep a winning smile through regular brushing and eating the right foods. The food advisor from Sainsbury will be calling in with examples of exotic fruit for the children to taste. “It is important to start early teaching children how to look after their teeth. By making it fun they are more likely to adopt good oral hygiene and eating habits for life. The role play around the miniature dentist’s chair aims to take away some of the fear of visiting the dentist,” said Jacqui Finbow. Activity World offers the venue for the event free of charge.
