Hospital holds special service of remembranceA special service of 'Remembering and Sharing for all who have lost precious babies and children' has been organised by the West Suffolk Hospitals NHS Trust. The service will take place on Sunday 14 May at 3.00pm in the Chapel of the Good Samaritan at the West Suffolk Hospital, Bury St Edmunds. It has been organised by the Reverend David Crawley, Head of Chaplaincy Services, with the support of a working group comprising representatives from the Special Care Baby Unit, gynaecology, paediatrics, midwifery and a mother who has experienced the loss of a baby. Last year was the first time such a service had been held and it was very well attended. "The feedback we received from parents has encouraged us to make this an annual event in the Trust's calendar," said the Revd. Crawley. "Although it was a very sad occasion those present drew enormous strength and support from each other which made it a very special occasion. "Parents who have lost a child, at whatever age, and this can include miscarriage, stillbirth or termination are welcome to come along to the service," he said. With the parents permission the child's name is read out during the informal service and included in a Book of Remembrance. Light refreshments will be served afterwards when there will be an opportunity to talk with members of staff and other parents. Anyone wanting further information can contact the Revd Crawley on 01284 713000. 28 April 2000 West Suffolk Hospital Hardwick Lane Bury St Edmunds Suffolk IP33 2Q |
