Clinical Teams Selected

July 19th 2002

We have received notification from CHI of the teams selected to participate in the review. These were selected from an analysis of the information provided by us and were chosen by CHI as providing a good general overview of clinical governance processes and practices within the Trust.  The three teams selected are:

·         Elderly patient presenting at A&E with fractured neck of femur (including surgery and Out Patients)

·         Elderly patient presenting at EAU with stroke (including the stroke unit and rehabilitation at Walnutree Hospital)

·         GP referrals for suspected cervical cancer (including care pathways and Out Patients)

It may be that you are identified as someone who represents a particular aspect of one of these three teams. If this is the case, Jacqui Grimwood, Clinical Governance Review Co-ordinator will contact you shortly to arrange for you to be interviewed by CHI, talk the process through with you and arrange an interview date.   We will also be organising workshops to assist each of the three clinical teams selected in preparing for interviews.  Further details about the workshops will be released shortly.

If you have any queries regarding the review please contact Jacqui directly on Ext. 2740

I would like to take this opportunity to thank CHI for their constructive advice and support as during this pre-visit phase.  It is evident that they have undertaken a comprehensive review of the information we sent to them and the above patient pathways will serve well in exploring our governance arrangements.

If you are interviewed by CHI, please be open with the review team and share with them your experiences here at the Trust. It is impossible for us to have a ‘bad’ CHI review as we will be open with the reviewers and welcome their findings.  This is an opportunity to share the good practice taking place at the West Suffolk Hospitals Trust and learn from others to continuously improve the care we provide.

John Parkes

Chief Executive
