Letter to GPs from Mr McLouglin concerning Diagnostic Prostate Service questionnaire

Date: March 2002

Dear Colleague

Audit of Diagnostic Prostate Service

I am one of the team working in the Cancer Services Collaborative to try and improve the service for patients with suspected urological cancer.  As part of this service we are performing an ongoing audit of the service.  Part of this audit is a series of carefully structured questionnaires designed to evaluate different stages of the patients’ pathway.  The questionnaires cover areas such as Access into Clinics, Communication during the appointment, the Hospital environment, arrangements for follow up and how the diagnosis was given.

This work will form part of an ongoing audit, which will help feed back patients’ views to us.  Some of these questions may infringe slightly on your own practices, as they in-turn infringe on ours and it is for this reason that I am writing to you as a courtesy to let you know that we will be commencing this work shortly.   The questionnaires are straightforward and do not identify patients unless they wish to identify themselves.

If you wish to have any further information concerning this project please do not hesitate to contact me.

Yours sincerely

J McLouglin MS FRCS Urol
