West Suffolk Hospital appoints new consultants
17 December, 2002
West Suffolk Hospitals NHS Trust has appointed two new consultants. Dr Per Johansen starts work as a consultant rheumatologist on 1 January, and Dr Cynthia Beatty joins as a consultant haematologist on 1 April.
"I am looking forward to taking on the role of consultant rheumatologist at West Suffolk Hospital," said Dr Johansen. "This is an exciting time to be joining a Trust which I know has ambitious plans for the future."
Dr Johansen has been working for the Trust as a locum since August 2001. He was given specialist registration in rheumatology in Sweden in 1991, and replaces Dr Nicolls, who has retired.
The consultant haematologist post sees Dr Cynthia Beatty replace Dr Singer, who has also retired. Dr Beatty qualified in haematology in 1994, and has worked as a consultant with the National Blood Service since 1997.
"I want to extend a warm welcome to both new consultants, and am confident that they will help us to improve the service we provide to our patients," said John Parkes, Trust chief executive.
