Job Shop success for West Suffolk Hospital
February 28, 2003
The Job Shop run by staff from the West Suffolk Hospital on Friday 14th February to encourage people to join the Trust has been hailed as a great success.
From the hospital foyer, staff from various departments gave out information and advice to the public about the wide range of jobs available at the West Suffolk Hospitals NHS Trust. Their aim was to inform people about the many different roles in healthcare and to promote working for the Trust as a rewarding and worthwhile career.
Five trained nurses said they were interested in employment with the Trust, and were interviewed on the same day. All are in the process of being appointed, with a view to arranging permanent contracts shortly.
“The response from the public was brilliant, those of us manning the stall were kept busy” said Jan Bloomfield, Director of Personnel. “Twelve people were interviewed for health care support worker roles, and all have been provisionally appointed subject to standard recruitment checks. Interest was also shown in administrative positions and an interview and appointment was made to the clerical bank scheme. We are very pleased that the Job Shop has yet again been such a resounding success.”
“On the day we were inundated with requests for information about positions available with the Trust, which shows the continued popularity of working for the NHS,” said Jan Bloomfield. “It is especially pleasing to hear from five fully-qualified registered nurses who are searching for suitable roles in west Suffolk. All of the enquiries will be properly followed up by our staff, and I am confident that we will successfully fill a number of vacancies as a result of the Job Shop.”
