Infection Control Awareness Week – October 31 – Nov 6 31 October 2005 This week is Infection Control Awareness Week and West Suffolk Hospital has announced its newest measures to continue to improve infection control. 25 October 2005 West Suffolk Hospital is using this year’s World Radiography Day to give anyone interested in pursuing a career in radiography a chance to look round the department. Hospital radiographers will be on hand on Saturday, November 5, from 10am to 1pm, to talk with anyone who is interested in training in radiography. Hospital Unveils New Gamma Camera 25 October A new £215,000 state-of-the-art Gamma Camera has been installed at the West Suffolk Hospital. Father donates environmental prize to West Suffolk Hospital 21 October 2005 A father who won an environmental award from his employer has donated the prize – an English oak tree – to West Suffolk Hospital where his children were born. Bury St Edmunds Eye Symposium Attracts Expert Ophthalmologists 3 October 2005 Ophthalmologists from all over the country will be attending the 13th annual Bury St Edmunds Ophthalmology Symposium this week, hosted by West Suffolk Hospital’s Eye Treatment Centre team. Tonsil Operations to be carried out as day surgery at West Suffolk Hospital 29 September 2005 From this month tonsillectomies will be carried out for the first time in the day surgery unit at West Suffolk Hospital. WRVS Presents £10,000 for Medical Equipment to West Suffolk Hospital 21 September 2005 Members of the WRVS will present West Suffolk Hospital with a cheque for £10,000 on Thursday (Sept22) to buy a range of medical equipment. Talks, displays, and tours form part of West Suffolk Hospital’s annual public meeting on Friday, September 30. 20 September 2005 Next week (Sept 19 – 23) is "Play in Hospital Week", a national initiative which aims to highlight the therapeutic value of play for children in hospital. National Eczema Week 17th - 24th September 2005 14 September 2005 Next week is National Eczema Week, an annual health awareness campaign organised by the National Eczema Society to raise awareness of the condition that affects one in 12 adults and one-fifth of school-age children. Consultant Awarded Educational Teaching Prize 6 September 2005 A consultant at West Suffolk Hospital in Bury St Edmunds has been presented with a prestigious educational teaching award from the University of Cambridge. New Police Office Opens at West Suffolk Hospital 30 August 2005 A new police office will open at West Suffolk Hospital today which aims to provide greater security and peace of mind to staff, patients and visitors as well as an enhanced policing service to the local community. NHS in West Suffolk Launches Public Consultation ‘Modernising Healthcare in west Suffolk’ 1 August 2005 A public consultation on plans for three NHS Trusts was launched today (August 1) with the aim of modernising the health service in west Suffolk and bringing it into financial balance. National Diabetes Week June 11 17 - Suffolk Diabetes Website Success 11 June 2005 A website set up by a West Suffolk Hospital consultant to help his patients has become internationally renowned with 84,000 visits to the site in the last six months.
