New Chairman for West Suffolk Hospital NHS Trust

A new Chairman of the West Suffolk Hospital NHS Trust has been appointed.

David Arr, an international manager with wide commercial experience, has been appointed by the NHS Appointments Commission for four years office from Monday August 1 2005 until July 31 2009.
He succeeds Veronica Worrall, who has retired having served as chairman of the board for the past five years.
Mr Arr has previously worked for Barclays Bank PLC, and been a Director at Hambros Bank plc and PricewaterhouseCoopers. He is Managing Director of Torncrown Ltd trading as Strategic Planning Solutions – SPS.
David Arr said: “Working at board level over the last fourteen years I have been involved in all senior aspects of management, business development, growth and incremental performance. My approach is to develop a clear strategy, ensure a sound leadership structure, enhance working practice and underwrite a thriving team culture; owned by those who implement it.
“My early financial services background has evolved into an international range of advisory, regulatory and management challenges in whatever sector, financial or commercial, private or public.
“In addition I retain a close interest in medical research and until recently Chaired a Multiple Sclerosis Charity, seeking to alleviate that disease.”
Married with two grown up children, Mr Arr lives near Stansted, Essex. His recreational interests include travel, walking and music and he is also a trustee for two local churches.
Mr Arr will be paid £19,454 a year for the post. He has not held any other ministerial appointments or declared any political activity.
