New Arts and Health Co-ordinator for Hospital-Based Charity

The East of England branch of a national charity will have a new part time Arts & Health Co-ordinator based at West Suffolk Hospital.

Paintings in Hospitals East, which is based at West Suffolk Hospital, is the Eastern branch of a national charity that provides works of art on loan to hospitals, hospices and other healthcare facilities to enhance the healing environment for the benefit of patients, staff and visitors.

West Suffolk Hospital's corridors are filled with artwork, which will eventually go out on loan.

The charity is currently advertising for a co-ordinator to develop the Paintings in Hospitals loan collection and build relationships with hospitals, hospices and other healthcare organisations, artists, artist groups, galleries and art colleges in the area. The post is funded by the Arts Council.

Gordon Cummings, Chairman of Paintings in Hospitals East, said: "We are looking for someone with a passion for art who can be based at the hospital part time to take forward various aspects of the arts and health strategy for the region in conjunction with the Arts Council England."
