No Smoking Policy PP(05)004
West Suffolk Hospital has been a smoke-free site since 1998. Smoke-free means that smoking is not permitted anywhere on site and applies to all staff, patients and visitors to the Trust.
In line with the Government Public Health White Paper ‘Choosing Health’, which makes a clear commitment to a smoke-free NHS by the end of 2006, we are re-launching and reinforcing the Trust’s No Smoking Policy.
There will be a 3-month consultation period from 9 March, followed by a 3-month lead-in from 9 June. During this time, anyone found smoking on Trust premises will be asked to move off-site to smoke or to extinguish their cigarette.
From 9 September 2005 the Policy will be enforced and smoking will not be permitted on any part of the Trust’s site.
During the consultation period we welcome your comments and queries regarding the No Smoking Policy.
