Suffolk Stop Smoking Service DO YOU WANT TO stp SMOKING?SERVICES AVAILABLE IN SUFFOLK FOR FRIENDLY LOCAL INFORMATION Services to support people wishing to stop smoking are available in a number of ways:SPECIALIST SERVICEThis service offers intensive support for seven sessions over a period of 6 weeks. It is most suitable for: · Heavy smokers (over 20 per day) · Those who have failed at previous attempts to quit Clinics run on the principle of group support and are available at a variety of locations throughout Suffolk. It is delivered by: Specialist Smoking Cessation Advisors INTERMEDIATE SERVICEThis service offers individual support and is available at a variety of places including: GP Surgeries Health Centers Hospitals Pharmacies It is most suitable for: · Light to moderate smokers · Those who may have previously quite for long periods It is delivered by: Local Health Professionals who have been trained in Smoking Cessation by Specialist Services DISCUSSING SMOKINGWe know that half of all smokers will die as a result of smoking. As a consequence of this serious effect on health you may find that Health Professionals you visit ask about your smoking. All health professionals will be able to advise you on how to get help if and when you are ready to stop. All services will encourage the use of: · Nicotine Replacement Therapy (patches, gum, lozenges etc.) · Bupropion (Zyban) – this can only be supplied through you doctor Plus · Additional support sometimes called motivational support Research has shown that your chances of successfully giving up smoking are doubled if you follow this advice.
