The pharmacy is forward thinking and has near patient pharmacists and technicians working on the wards. With about 60 staff, it's a lively and youthful department.

Applications from both hospital and community based pharmacists would be welcome, as individual induction and training programs will be devised.

Salaries are based on experience and competence.

Near Patient Services

The introduction of ward based pharmaceutical services has had a major impact on patient care. Those doctors and nurses receiving this service now appreciate the clinical roles performed by our staff.

Near patient pharmacy services

The near patient teams are based on the wards for the majority of the working day. Each pharmacist and technician provides a service to two wards. During their day they will liase with all health care professionals to ensure optimum use of medicines and thus reduce risk to the patient and to the organisation.

The service requires excellent communication skills as well as good clinical knowledge. A rotational training programme will be provided for those applicants who require this additional support. Salary will reflect this requirement.
