Information for Patients

Red Cross Therapeutic Care Service

Trained Red Cross Therapeutic Care volunteers are able to aid our patients recovery by providing the following FREE services:

·         Hand care and hand massage

·         Neck and shoulder massage (which is given through clothing)

The aim of the service is to assist relaxation, to promote a sense of well being and of course it also provides the opportunity for volunteers to talk with patients. The treatment is gentle and comforting for people who are feeling ill, tense or anxious. We are currently developing the service with our stroke patients in a group situation and we’re also hoping to extend the service to include our resident parents.

To arrange for a Red Cross Volunteer to visit a patient ask the ward staff to contact extension 3599, leaving the patients name and ward, and a visit will be arranged as soon as possible.
